The Bobby Shea Gazette is an independent literary publication covering books, publishing, and the writing life. It publishes essays, creative nonfiction, criticism, and cultural commentary—long form and short—on subjects ranging from the state of the industry to the private mechanics of how writing actually gets made.
The Gazette operates outside of any publishing house, editorial board, or content calendar. Each issue is written, edited, and published independently. Previous issues are available in the archive.
The name comes from family. Bobby is an uncle. Shea is a middle name. The Gazette is what happened when neither asked to be turned into a newspaper.
About the Editor
Brynlee Wolfe is the founder and publisher of the Bobby Shea Gazette. She is a writer and editor based in Nashville, Tennessee, originally from Sterling, Illinois. She studied English literature at Middle Tennessee State University and has spent the years since working in publishing—bringing other people’s books to print, which is its own kind of writing.
Her work has appeared in the Albion Review and her university’s creative journal, Collage: A Journal of Creative Expression.
The Gazette is her own project—a place to write without a house style, a deadline from someone else, or a word count that ends in three zeroes.
She lives with a Doberman named Nash, who supervises all production and has never once offered a useful note.
